You Must Know Your Line

Actors must know their lines to give a quality performance. Some actors find ways to fake it, but that catches up with them over time. The same holds true for business.

It may seem strange, but many of us do not have an idea of what our business really is or in other words what is our line.

When you are asked what it is that you do for a living do you have to think about it for a few moments or does it pop immediately to mind?

If you are not sure how can you market your business properly?

Look at the popular fast food chains. All of them clearly identify what they have to offer. Burger King, Wendy’s, Checkers and McDonald’s all market burgers. They may make the bulk of their profits with some other menu item, but Burgers is their identity. Mention Subway these days even in a city that has them as mass transportation and most people first think of sandwiches made their own way.

When the name of your business is mentioned what comes to mind. You must know this before others will. You must know what your line is and market accordingly.
My line at this site is marketing through technology. My line is winning against the competition by using tech along with hard work when and where ever possible.

This is the line that I market and I have to believe that I am getting better and better at it each day.

If you have not asked yourself the important questions then I suggest you do it now. What is my line? Does every single possible customer that comes in contact with me know what my line is? How to I get that information out to more and more of them? How do I market my line? How does my line measure up to others who do what I do? How do I become the biggest and the best?

Before you do anything else you must answer the line question.

After the line question is answered the rest will be easy. The rest will be marketing that line.

Customer shows up and ask you what is your line.

You smile and say “Well let me tell you about it. Let me tell you what it can do for you. My line is the very best of its kind.”
